FAQ: When do Araucanas grow their tufts? How soon can you tell the tufted ones from the clean-headed ones?"
ANSWER: With most tufted chicks, the tufts are visible from birth, although they may vary in size, shape, and color. To see how tufts look on day-old chicks, look closely at the photos below.
